Dope Ambition at SXSW Part 1: The Scenery

So as many of you know, I scrambled around and somehow scraped up enough scrilla to make it to SXSW for the first time this year. I was lucky enough to not only have a place to crash, courtesy of my favorite band Kids These Days and their manager, but I also managed to hustle my way into many a wristband-only venue.

I could go on and on about my adventures, but I’ll let these flicks speak for themselves.

This first batch of photos chronicles the scenery in Austin during the music festival which was full of, well: (in no specific order) chronic, hippies, hipsters (not to be confused), open bars, bands playing on the street, long lines, taco trucks, rickshaw rides, and 2-hour waits for cabs.

The next batch, which I’ll post tomorrow, will document the life and times of Kids These Days during their (and my) first SXSW adventure. Stay tuned.

PARTY CAB!

The line for the Fader Fort by Fiat wristbands. 2 1/2 hour wait

Refreshments in the mean time

Acting like fools.

Documenting all the hipsters, hippies and happenings.

The lines for wristbands and/or passes were outrageous

Bands everywhere. Skinny legs and guitar cases, too

She took the party out to the streets with fervor

For those SXSW-goers who so desperately wanted free sweaty hugs from wandering hippies

Kick pushing past the madness on 6th Street

Impromptu street concerts by dread heads and flannel shirted hippies. I'm into it

We walked EVERYWHERE

The most common means of transporation in Austin. And this wasn't the most colorful of the week's variety.

Yooo lemme get that vest, SON
