Lindsay Lohan Pre-Prison – Vogue Italia August 2010 by Ellen von Unwerth

Our poor little child-star celebrity-darling; she rose, she fell, and she ate shit (most likely, literally) in prison for such celebrity-like problems: drinking, drugging and being dumber than dumb. And sadly, as Americans, we find some sort of sick allure in those who are tragically doomed (point in case: the Kennedy’s, Marilyn Monroe, Curt Cobain…etc). However, the difference between the latter and the former: talent. Miss Lohan only had so much time to showcase her abilities; Parent Trap and Mean Girls can only take one so far. But alas, she was a hard-partying, Paris Hilton-hand-holding, lesbian-loving, cocaine-inhaling darling before any of us could actually respect her “abilities.” Instead, her abilities lie in the fact that she has somehow remained somewhat socially relevant despite her lack of purpose.

Therefore, as any true-blue American would, I am oogling over this editorial-after-the-fact for Vogue Italia in which little Lohan does what she does best: undress and make the sexy-eye at the lens pointed in her direction. Whether her story will end tragically or not, none of us can know. But she is out of the “big house” and on to rehab. Hopefully she gets better. And if not, we will probably have much more tragically beautiful material to secretly adore.
