It’s been awhile since I’ve had a style crush. It’s not often that I am inspired by one individual’s style; I usually find something I like on people all over the map/internet/globe. My style crushes remain to be Christine Centenera (of Australia Harper’s Bazaar), Alexa Chung, Kate Moss..the usuals.
However, I recently stumbled upon fashion darling Julia Restoin Roitfeld, whom I have seen on many-a-blog before, but I had yet to discover her fashionable lineage. Julia is daughter to the coveted Editor-in-Cheif of French Vogue, and her father had a clothing company, Equipment in France. Julia attended Parsons and is now pursuing her own career in the big city … (I’m there too!).
Her style is laid-back and sensual without being overtly sexual. She has, perhaps what most American women envy most, a Parisian sense of style combined with a New York boldness and execution. She seems to prefer a color palette comprised of black and neutrals, however, bright pops of color make their way into her ensembles in the form of shoes and accessories. I love her downtown, disheveled look that somehow maintains a sense of mystery and precision.
Hey, Julia, can I borrow from your closet? K…thanks.
