Dope Ambition

When the degrees get low low low like the Ying Yang Twins told ‘em to do, I usually groan, moan, bitch, complain and end up under the covers watching randoms on Current TV.

However, in climates that are usually cold and stay cold for a big part of the year, one must incorporate chic into her wardrobe without a word of complaint. (And if I want to move to Chicago like I say I do, I need to learn to do this as well). So, forget the boring Northface and opt for a chic yet warm parka (faux fur, if you like), and slip on some cut-off gloves to make sure we all remember that you are staying warm, but also staying wildly chic.

For a long time, I have scooped many-an-item from Crooks for my man: he has everything from Crooks boxers to cardigans to hats, and I continue to support the brand as well has my boo’s streetwear habit. However, I often complained that the line did not branch out into anything sassy or sexy for females.

But I swallow my words. I no longer have to wish upon a star or long for a visit to their flagship stores to purchase a dope streetwear brand for women. With MTTM now being sold at Urban Outfitters (SELLOUT!) I am looking for a few new lines to cure my habit (besides Hellz Bellz & Dope Couture). However, I am not madly in love with all of these pieces, but I never expected to be. I do like the dripping black C, the theme of dripping in chains, and the ripping of the denim.  (I got rhymes, y0).

But C&C made men’s streetwear first, and that is where I’m sure their focus will remain.

For now, I will pick and choose pieces I like and leave the ones I don’t on the shelves. Scoop soon on Karmaloop or on their site.

For those of you who are already (sneaker)heads and who take drastic measures to scoop the latest and greatest, unpeel your eyes as I give you the gift of dope! Hellz Bellz has already collaborated with reebok on a dope sneaker+women’s streetwear collection, but the Vans collabo has taken Bellz to the next level.

These vans are the pinnacle of dope, with the subtly flashy colors emitting just enough pizazz to woo and wow and garner jealousy.

So check for, if not your own city, then the city nearest you, and get ready to lighten the weight of your pocketbook, wallet and/or wad.

I was absolutely obsessed with Miu Miu’s S/S 2010 RTW collection. The prints…the fabrics…perfection.
