Look of the Day – Tribal & Plaid – Mixed Prints

Marc Jacobs once said: “No one dictates fashion to the women I know. I truly believe in wearing whatever you want, wherever you want.” Well said. therefore, mixing bold prints such as tribal prints with a more subdued plaid does not equal a fashion faux-pas, but rather fabulous quirky concoction.

Megan Fox Bears Some Skin in Armani Underwear Ads

Of course, she isn’t the first to show a little skin; Eva Mendes’s ads for Calvin Klein have received heated reviews. Some say they are overtly sexual (they are), and claim they are too racy for billboards (give me a break)!

Well, it only makes sense for the it girl of the moment to follow in the footsteps of her predecessors by showing off her assets in the new Armani underwear campaign. Sultry, no?

Thoughts?

Trend Alert: Chanel Temporary Tattoos

In these days and times, everyone seems to feel the need to express themselves through the art we know as tattoos. Celebrities, models, (we did a feature on these),  and everyone and their mothers have been inked in the most incredible places: I have seen tattoos on feet (I have one), on wrists, arms, backs, necks, behind the ears, collar bones (I have one); overall, either our generation is out to prove something with body art, or we have ironically grown more outspoken in a way that cannot be described.

Of course, fashion finds its ways into everyone’s lives by keeping an eye and an ear on the everyday growing trends. Karl Lagerfeld, aka Unkle Karl, is no exception. He has remained closely tied to pop culture in a way Andy Warhol was: he almost creates a segment of pop-culture while implementing its stars at the same time; (ie, the Lily Allen campaign). Therefore, it comes as no surprise that temporary tattoos were seen adorned across models shoulders and legs in a plethora of fashions.

So forget the needle; Chanel’s pearls can be applied and taken off in a matter of days. Fashion has made temporary tats glam. Who would have thought?

Starting March 1st, these lovelies will be available for purchase in the brand’s outlets around the world.

Nina Peter Rocker-Chic Gloves

As we speak, the temps outside are somewhere between zero and negative one-thousand. It hurts just to step outside and get the mail, let alone frolic in any way shape or form outside the four walls of my home. One especially difficult task to accomplish is using one’s hands in this weather; they often become chapped, frigid or stuck at the joints. Boo hoo, I hate winter.

However, these edgy gloves serve more than one purpose: of course they were made to decorate your most functioning winter assets, but at the same time, they are actually incredibly warm. Wow. Fashion that actually translates into real life? I guess these gloves are having a utilitarian moment. In the mean time, scoop a pair (or five) up and let your hands do the talking. As for the fingerless variety, leave those for a night out, unless you want the tips of your fingers to fall off.

Purcha$e here.

Body Modification: Elohim Spring/Summer 2010

Collections with a clear inspiration and theme are truly worth the time and money used to create them. Sabrina Goh was inspired by “cutting, adding and customizing” and implemented these ideas into her Spring/Summer 2010 collection. I love the idea of altering the way the body appears by customizing and changing the garment; after all, isn’t this the concept fashion is constantly striving to embody?

Same girl, different piece. Love it.

Check out the entire (amazing) collection HERE.

Nike Sportswear – ‘3GX Series’ Blazer Mid

I have always been a huge Blazers fan; I have grown to love them even more than Dunks these days (gasp!). Therefore, these newly made-over, especially fresh-looking Blazer mid have captivated me, and I am not exaggerated. The black premium leather upper, white soles and nylon tongues add up for a brilliant and sophisticated look for one of my fave sneaks.

Now I realize these lovelies are made for gentlemen, but order a size-and-a-half down and voila! They are now for the ladies too :)

H&M's Garden Collection

For some of you, florals are too feminine and colorful. Many fashion-lovers these days stick to grays, blacks, and gunmetals for a more rocker chic look. However, I prefer a mixture of a million different “styles,” so flowers and bright colors are never considered a negative. In fact, this garden collection (starring Natasha Poly) is absolutely perfect for spring. As magazines, critics and models have all pointed out, H&M has done a fantastic job of providing a perfect collision of chic, inexpensive pieces that can easily be paired with the most luxurious high-end pieces. I can just picture an Hérmes scarf with some of these ensembles, just as easily as I can picture an Elizabeth and James cardigan.

I especially love the chic red mini. Which pieces are your faves?

V Magazine's Exclusive "Size" Issue

Many in the fashion world often overlook any issue concerning size; in fact, many thought that Lara Stone’s size four frame seemed a little too hefty for a world in which size zeros and twos reign supreme. However, let us also not forget that size four is still considered very think in the real world. Therefore, I was excited when V Magazine decided to release an issue dealing strictly with “size,” however, I was somewhat disappointed by this editorial.

The photography is not the part that is lacking; no. I truly feel that the editorial as a whole, in terms of theme and interaction between the models, lacks cohesiveness. The only aspect that seems to be consistent throughout is the presence of gigantic platforms and over-the-top heels. But what is this editorial trying to say about size? The problem is that this editorial is not just another beautiful, glossy, high fashion collection of images; the magazine itself has proclaimed a message, so what is the message behind this particular shoot?

Who knows. I thought I’d post it anyway though, so enjoy.
