Steven Meisel's "Twitter" Editorial for Vogue Italia

Social networks continue to advance: MySpace took over when Tom became everyone’s new bff and stalking people officially became “okay.” Then, Facebook reigned supreme because everyone loves looking at pictures of themselves and others; and the mini-feed addition makes it even MORE easy to creep.

However, Twitter, the newest addition, is limited in creep-ability. One can post his/her location with every tweet via Google-map, but most decline. Also, it is refreshing to have a maximum 140 word capacity for speaking your mind. Much can be learned from making short, sweet and to the point. However, Twitpic (and its many variations) is a lot of people’s new obsession. Instead of posting pictures to people’s profiles, you can instantly upload a picture of whatever you want via phone or digital camera. Many people tweet oddities in their lives such as strange looking passersby, crossdressers, delicious-looking food, or their outfits for the day.

So, as usual, fashion confronts the social world with only a hint of a mocking tone. The genius behind the lens, Meisel, shapes this fun editorial off of the ever-popular Twitpic feature of Twitter. Every it-girl in the modeling world has been “twit-picked” by Meisel in a spread that garners the greenest kind of envy from tweethearts everywhere.

Enjoy.
